Syringe feeding: A syringe can be greatly beneficial for kittens 0-2 weeks of age. Syringes make it easy to measure kitten formula in small increments, so you can feel confident that the kitten has eaten a full meal. Small kittens don't have a gag reflex so gagging could be an issue.
Bottle Feeding: Bottle feeding is an essential skill for any neonatal kitten rescuer, but it is not as easy as it seems. You must have the correct equipment, and assess whether the kitten is ready for feeding. Never give a kitten cow's milk or milk alternatives!
Stimulating Kittens: Young kittens don't eliminate urine or feces on their own; mama cats stimulate them to go by licking them. If you are raising an orphan, you'll need to use a wet cloth to help them. The best time to do this is at their feeding time.
Weaning Kittens: Weaning is the fun, messy adventure of helping a kitten transition from bottle feeding to eating solid food on their own. Kittens often need extra support during this time to help ensure they're receiving the proper nutrients in the proper quantities.
